The 16th Brother International Quilting Contest has chosen its winners and once again it’s an Australian quilter who has taken first place. See Jill Hessing’s ‘Bitter Pill’ (right) and the five other prize-winning Australian entries on display for the first time in Australia at the fair.
Set with the challenge to create an ‘Eco’ themed quilt, the entries chosen to tour internationally are a diverse collection of subjects and an artistic mix of quilting construction techniques. Stop by the compelling display of 18 prize-winning quilts, each a unique artwork championing the sustainability of our planet.
This competition is an annual initiative from Brother Industries Japan and is inspired by Brother Earth; Brother’s commitment to build a sustainable future. Quilts are judged locally in each country, with the top quilts being submitted to an international panel of experts at the Tokyo Quilt Show.
