Join award-winning Adrienne Kneebone, as she teaches the art of native grass basketry. Coil stitch is a contemporary adapted basketry technique where soft coils are stitched together with colourful thread.

Adrienne is interested in to the soft grasses of Victoria, adding colour, humour and stories of the Central Desert to her classes. All participants will gain new weaving skills, plant knowledge and a beautiful grass basket. Materials provided.

Class Includes: Poa grass, coloured raffia, wools, threads

Join the weaver fever and make your own beautiful woven wall hanging! In this three-hour workshop, you will learn all the basics to using lap loom, simple techniques and tricks for starting, finishing and hanging your weaving piece.

You will learn to a range of different stitch types, pattern and colours to create your weaving design. A wide selection of beautiful wools and roving will be available for you to use. The studio class price includes all your materials, as well as your own take home loom kit to continue your weaving.

Class Includes: Wool, warping thread, scissors are supplied for use in class. Students will take home a beginners loom kit, including a beautiful timber loom, weaving needle, printed notes, dowel and bag.

Weaving Loom Kit:A beautiful Australian-made Loom (30.5 x 40cm) supplied by Loom & Spindle; made locally on the Mornington Peninsula from timber, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Learn to Eco-print (or close-contact printing) with Michelle Morgan, art therapist. This earthy art form is an alchemical process that uses leaves and other vegetable matter along with paper, silk, wool or cotton to create beautiful prints.

In this interactive and hands on studio class you will learn the basic method of eco-print and experiment with eco-printing different materials (paper and silk). You will take time to unravel your eco-print bundles, noticing the outcomes of your experiments and creating responses through visual art, journaling, clay work or photography. This will be an active class, explore your artistic expressions while incorporating mindfulness in process.

Class Includes: Watercolor paper, a silk scarf, leaves and other vegetable matter, and string to tie your bundle. Tin cans, copper bars and chunks of iron will be available for loan to include in your bundle.

You are welcome to contribute natural materials including: onion skins, purple cabbage, purple carrot, and/or eucalyptus, rose, plum, maple leaves, etc.

Students bring: A journal in which to make notes, and camera or smart phone to document your process, and your curiosity!

In this workshop you will learn the basics of how to make a kokedama string garden, including how to mix your own soil and plant selection. To get you in the festive spirit we will have an assortment of plants and coloured strings to choose from. You will get to make two of your own unique hanging planters to take home!
