There are quilts of all sizes, and creative clothing, by individuals and groups, showing many different styles, from traditional, handmade and hand quilted, to modern, mixed media, art quilts, raw edge finishes, embellishment, and more. This year’s challenge theme, ‘In your Prime’, has inspired an interesting variety of interpretations.

The Quilts for Others volunteer group will demonstrate the stages of the quilting process, from cutting to piecing, quilting and the final binding. Because of QFO, Canberra Quilters has now donated more than 4000 beautiful quilts to local charities.

Always a highlight of the exhibition, the renowned Sales Room provides visitors the chance to buy quality handmade items such as quilts, totes, cloth toys, Christmas decorations and sewing tools – a Christmas shopper’s delight.

The 2017 Canberra Quilters Exhibition will be officially opened on Thursday, August 10, at 11am by the talented Mary Taguchi from Mingei Studio in Braidwood.
