These local dollmakers have discovered they are also mad about crazy patchwork!
A backdrop of crazy patchwork quilts and wall hangings from the Anne’s Glory Box Crazy Patchwork Embellishers, with cloth dolls from Anne’s Glory Box cloth doll club, Hello Dollies, will be exhibited at the fair.
See fabulous, richly hand-embellished and embroidered quilts and wall hangings displayed alongside wonderful and expressive costumed dolls. The quilts are colour themed and the dolls are themed as a result of club challenges.
Marvel at the stunning creations that can be made with fine threads, ribbons, buttons, charms and laces. Crazy patchwork, felting and decoration give the dolls zany personalities and the quilts style and an old world elegance inspired by the Victorian era.
Enjoy discussing the fabulous work with expert doll makers and embroiderers when you wander this stunning display. As a special treat for all, enjoy a display of dolls from Barbara Willis’s debut book, Cloth Doll Artistry, a brand new release. These will be flown out from the USA especially for this display.
Hello Dollies Cloth Doll Club has been meeting monthly in Newcastle and Sydney for over 15 years and continues to inspire doll makers in the region. Anne’s Glory Box Embellishers meet monthly to explore the wonderful world of decorative embroidery and learn more astonishing and advanced
techniques.
