Tip: leave your rings at home and wear old clothes or bring an apron/smock.
Ribbon Embroidery Master Class Tutor: Helen Dafter, Helen Dafter Embroidery & Design, Stand E01 When: 4pm to 7pm, Thursday, September 10 Fee: $72 Class location: Craft Circle 2 An indulgent opportunity to spend a fun filled three hours learning the fascinating art of ribbon embroidery. Helen Dafter is one of the world’s leading exponents of this delicate needle art. You will create a collection of flower samplers with each sampler featuring unique stitches. No experience is necessary and the full kit will be provided along with the use in class of an embroidery hoop and scissors. Materials to bring: Bring reading glasses if required. Miss Frosty Tutor: Christina Del Dot, Polly's Beads, Stand A14 When: 4pm to 7pm, Thursday, September 10 Fee: $35 Class location: Craft Circle 3 Miss Frosty is a gorgeous beaded Christmas ornament made up of two lace-weaving covered balls, with three dimensional aspects. She is 5cm high without the hanger when completed. This is an advanced project but you will have assistance from an experienced teacher to understand this wonderful new kit – it is possible for a beginner to participate in this class and feel happy with their project. Techniques taught include lace-weaving with beads, increasing and decreasing, and adding on three dimensional aspects. Kit contains pattern, beads, polystyrene balls, hat, flower, needle and cotton, and a beading mat. Materials to bring: A small pair of scissors, a work lamp if you have one and reading glasses for beading if required. Freeform Experimentation Tutor: Prudence Mapstone, Stand E05 When: 4pm to 7pm, Thursday, September 10 Fee: $75 Class location: Craft Circle 4 Experiment with a range of different stitches and techniques that will get you started with exciting freeform knitting and crochet. Learn lots of tips and tricks that will help you turn your experiments into works of wearable art. The kit will include a selection of specialty yarns in your colour choice, plus comprehensive notes to get you ‘freeforming’. Knowledge of basic knit and crochet stitches is required. Materials to bring: A range of knitting needles and crochet hooks in different sizes (approximately 3.5 to 4.5mm) and a pair of scissors.
