Last year Creative Fibre (the New Zealand Spinning, Weaving & Woolcrafts Society Inc) held its National Exhibition alongside the Craft & Quilt Fair. The response to the work from visitors was so fantastic that this year they have created a special stand alone exhibition, to be held at the fair.
When you visit this exhibition comprising more than 150 pieces, be prepared to leave all your stereotypes of fibre work at the door and allow yourself to be amazed at the creativity and workmanship in all aspects of spinning, weaving, felting, knitting and fibre art.
Experience the best of their members’ work, the majority of it created exclusively for this show. Also on display will be work from five guest exhibitors and some items from the recent National Exhibition. Thanks to the involvement of fair organisers, Expertise Events, Creative Fibre will showcase some new categories not usually seen in their exhibitions. These include a multi-media award – recognising the cross over of techniques from one craft genre to another – and an eco awareness award – celebrating the UN’s International Year of Natural Fibres.
At the display visitors can learn to spin on a variety of wheels, receive information about the organisation and chat with members about workshops, classes, clubs and fibre suppliers. So come on through and experience a new dimension to your craft!
